TRISH LUNDBERG

Artist Statement

My current work deals with layers of memory and the blurring of these memories as time passes. The fluid movement between memory and thought is questioned. To what extent has the mind created stories and how have the memories been idealized?  The memories become the scenes of a play. The stage is set. As the idea struggles to become established, the painting takes over and I find the pure joy of being in that other place. As if in a play, I am compelled to re enact the paintings until the process has run its course and I can move on.

My involvement with the visual arts is an all-consuming passion and a continuous learning process.  Experimenting within the different disciplines of painting, drawing, sculpture and metalwork I find to be exciting and it creates endless possibilities. The History of Art provides a fascinating insight into historical forces which propel the need to create, whilst the local environment provides a beautiful canvas from which to draw my inspiration. Life study and portrait drawing sessions continue to inform and provide a stimulus, which is reflected in my art practice. I have shown in numerous group exhibitions and my work is represented in private collections nationally and overseas. A period of ten years between 1996 and 2006 was spent as co-owner and executive officer of  a business.
